COVID-19 Guidance for Families

News surrounding the COVID-19 Coronavirus is constant. Additionally, new information becomes available daily. This may be an unsettling time for many of us, and may require frequent changes in practice as information changes. Our mental health providers want to ensure the best possible continuation of care during this time, while protecting the health of everyone. Our hope is that by taking appropriate steps now, we may avoid contributing to any health outbreak while still providing necessary support for our whole community.

First, if you are experiencing an increase in your mental health symptoms, please communicate with your provider as soon as possible. If you have an emergent mental health situation please follow the crisis plan you have created with your provider or call the on call physician at Essex Pediatrics.

Second, we will be working with each of you to establish an individual plan moving forward. For many, this may include teletherapy whenever possible.

In the meantime, please follow these general guidelines:

If you, or anyone you live with has had a fever and cough/shortness of breath in the past 48-hours please do NOT come to your counseling appointment. Contact us as soon as possible to determine if rescheduling or tele-therapy is most appropriate.

In this situation we also recommend that you call your primary care physician to help determine a course of action.

Providing support and care for our clients is still our primary goal. As information and recommendations evolve, we remain committed to supporting you during this time.
