Sean Riehl MA Psychotherapist

Sean currently is employed full time as a school counselor, and supports a small caseload of therapy clients outside of school hours. Sean lives in Essex with his wife and their two sons, ages 13 and 15. Passion has been a driving force in his life—first as an athlete, and now as a counselor, father, and husband. Sports continue to play a big role in his life, particularly through his sons’ involvement in soccer, hockey, and baseball. In their free time, Sean and his family enjoy skiing, ice skating, and staying active throughout Vermont’s beautiful seasons.

Sean’s desire to become a counselor began in his teenage years, influenced by personal experiences that shaped his passion for helping others. Before pursuing this path professionally, he intentionally spent time gaining life experience—a choice that has enriched both his personal and professional life. Today, Sean brings that perspective, along with his experiences as a parent and educator, into his clinical work. By building connection and developing resilience, clients will learn to navigate various mental health challenges. Through the use of compassion and therapeutic skill building, clients will identify a path that leads to a life where they can thrive and grow. Sean holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and in May 2024, completed a Dual Master’s program in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health at Vermont State University. Sean looks forward to continuing to learn, grow, and walking alongside his clients as they work toward lives of growth and fulfillment.
